Hi, I'm Virginia Ringseth, the founder of Hood Canal Yoga. My favorite place to practice and prepare for my classes is at my home on Hood Canal, so I have decided to teach private and semi-private classes right here as well! I also travel around the Puget Sound region to teach group classes.
My love of fluid body movement began at age seven, when my Mom took me to my first ballet class. I went on to compete in junior high gymnastics, but my participation was halted due to a diagnosis of severe scoliosis, requiring a back brace for two years, then major surgery followed by a body cast for the next eight months. Many years later, in 1998, my yoga journey began , as I was seeking health and vitality after multiple abdominal surgeries, several months of radiation targeting all major organs, and two years of chemotherapy as a result of a Stage III Colon Cancer diagnosis at age 28. Additionally I was battling stiffness and pain due to the scoliosis and a steel rod implanted in my spine.
My first yoga class challenged me mentally and physically, and I couldn't believe how HAPPY and HEALTHY I felt afterwards. The joy and comfort it brought was life-changing, and I was hooked from day one.
In 2017, I commenced my study of yoga to become a teacher. Since earning my certification, I have taught hundreds of classes in multiple locations and formats....studios, gyms, community centers, private classes, outdoor parks, and online. Continuing education with Warriors at Ease supports my belief that yoga is for everybody, and my passion is to guide others to reap the benefits of this ancient practice. I have been told that I have a 'beginner-friendly' approach, which is what I strive for in every class I lead though I can also teach you how to stand on your head if that's your goal!
The mission of Warrior at Ease is to bring the power of yoga and meditation to military communities around the world.
Expertly guided by Chelsea Boug's encyclopedic knowledge of the history and practice of yoga. Studied teaching methodologies for multiple styles of yoga at Hot Yoga Experience.
Taught by Larissa Anderson and Jennifer Anderson, senior instructors of the traditional 26 (aka 'Bikram') Hatha style.
Hood Canal Yoga is eager to answer any questions you may have! It would be my honour to guide you through a sequence which suits your objectives.
